Pressrelease: Göteborg Energi´s biogas plant GoBiGas is now fully operational

GoBiGas, the world's first demonstration plant for large-scale production of biogas through the gasification of forest residues, is now in full operation. The biogas has been supplied to the Swedish natural gas grid since Monday evening this week.

- After intensive work with the commissioning of the plant over the past year, we have now reached an important milestone, says project manager Freddy Tengberg.

The biogas now going into the grid fulfils by far the quality demands with a methane content of over 95 percent.

- With continued hard work we shall now show that the plant can operate around the clock and throughout the year. In addition, we are expanding the fuel handling to gain flexibility in our requirements for raw materials for the plant, says Freddy Tengberg.

The plant, which is the first in the world to combine large-scale gasification with methanation, has the capacity to supply about 15,000 cars or 400 buses a year with biofuels.
